Where we get our data.

Garden Capital pulls directly from each garden or organization's public calendar, updated weekly. Nothing is editorialized or paid for. The list below links to each source's own site.

Active sources

Private gardens

Private gardens — those opened by their owners on select dates — don't publish machine-readable calendars, so we track them differently.

Two automated sources cover most regional open days: Garden Conservancy Open Days (in the list above) and the Hardy Plant Society of the Mid-Atlantic pop-up event series. Both are scraped weekly.

Beyond that, we run a weekly search across 15 named private gardens in the region — including Hedgeleigh Spring, Federal Twist, Donald Pell Gardens, Brandywine Cottage, and Hortulus Farm — checking their own websites and looking for newly announced open days. Confirmed events are added to the calendar by hand before each Sunday's newsletter.
