Hi 👋 I'm Janessa, a Philadelphia-based marketer and graduate of the Barnes Horticulture Program. The Philadelphia area is known as America's Garden Capital, with its many public gardens, a thriving community garden practice, and fantastic nurseries and amateur plant people. If you love plants, this is just about the best place in the world to be.
This project started to solve a problem for me. There are so many fantastic workshops, nature walks, and plant sales happening in the region and I struggle to stay on top of what's available. Too many emails, poorly managed websites, and Instagram doing a poor job showing me information from accounts I follow. So I made this.
Garden Capital checks the many, many sources of information and compiles them for you. It's a lot! The search bar lets you look by garden name, date, or event type, and "near me" limits the view to what's close by. The Sunday email delivers the week ahead to your inbox, either the whole list or just the topics you care about.
Events come straight from each garden's own published calendar; nothing is editorialized or paid for. Listings can change after we collect them, so always confirm details on the official event page before you go. If something looks wrong, or your garden's events are missing, reply to any Sunday email and tell me.
